La Liga Hit Barcelona With Transfer Ban! (Details)

La Lig has slammed Barcelona with a transfer ban, Breaking Sport News reports.

Following the 2019 Covid Pandemic, Barcelona slipped into an economic crisis which led to the exit of Lionel Messi in 2021.

The Catalans came into a head-on collision with La Liga Fair Play Rules as their debt crisis mounted.

Last summer Barcelona had to trigger economic levers to offset their dwindling financial fortunes including selling their TV rights to sign new players.

In the 2022 summer transfer window, the Catalans brought in the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Kounde despite their mounting financial crisis.

Despite the club’s diminishing financial fortunes, Joan Laporte, the club President had insisted the club is in a strong position financially as they had planned to cut the wages of Barcelona players by £150m.

Joan Laporte also said no player sale will be necessary to set the club on the right footing with La Liga Fair Play Rules.

However, La Liga President, Javier Tebas who spoke with Financial Times has confirmed ‘Barcelona doesn’t have any room in its budget to spend in the upcoming transfer window.’

Javier Tebas added Barcelona will have to sell some of their players if they want to be active in the transfer market next summer.

“They have to reduce their investment in players and we have encouraged them to sell players because, for every amount they raise in sales, they can spend 40 percent of that,” Tebas said.

Barcelona are currently leading the La Liga table and have made a bold statement in Copa Del Rey after defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu in the semifinal first leg.
