Former Manchester City playmaker, Yaya Toure, has broken his long-held silence on Manchester City ‘Champions League curse,’ Breaking Sport News reports.
The former African footballer of the year has been linked to Manchester City Champions League deadlock by his agent Dimitri Seluk.
Dimitri Seluk had claimed he and Yaya Toure had consulted African shamans to curse Pep Guardiola and cast a spell on Manchester City so that they will not win the Champions League.
Manchester City are one of the biggest teams in England and have dominated the Premier for fives years.
However, at the European scene, they are always outclassed especially in the knockout of the competition.
They came close to winning the tournament in Porto in 2021 when they played Chelsea in the final but lost.
Last year, they lost narrowly to Real Madrid at the semi-final and will be tackling the same again today in another semifinal.
Ahead of the clash against Real Madrid, Dimitri Seluk, Yaya Toure former agent, has claimed he and Yaya Toure has lifted the curse on Manchester City and they can now go ahead and win the Champions League (Source; The Mirror)
In his words, “the curse has been lifted. I and Yaya Toure wish Manchester City nothing but success.
“They can now go ahead and win the Champions League.”
After Dimitri Seluk’s comment, Yaya Toure was quick to lashed out at Seluk for associating him to the said curse.
Toure called Seluk’s comment ‘nonsense’ and misrepresenting Africa.
Taking to his Twitter account, he wrote, ”
“My former agent is being quoted by the media about a “curse.”
“Please don’t associate me with this nonsense and Lazy stereotypes about African curses!?”
Yaya Toure left Manchester City in 2018 after he fell out with Pep Guardiola for unfair treatment and disregard for African players.
He made just one appearance for the club in the 2017/18 season before his exit and was unhappy at the club.
Nevertheless, he has debunk the rumors he placed a curse on Manchester City not to win the Champions League.
